What industry are you in? Beauty/Makeup Industry.
What made you choose this career? I’ve been passionate about beauty and makeup for as long as I remember, I love seeing the transformation makeup can make, it’s an amazing creativity outlet for me and I love making others feel beautiful!
Where did you take your education? Richards College, now known as The Style Academy.
What’s the most valuable thing you took from your educational institute? Confidence in doing makeup applications and Special FX makeup and the friendships I made along the way!
How long have you been in the industry? Two and a half years.
What keeps you motivated to push forward? The ever-changing makeup trends and techniques and continuing to learn and express creativity.
What are some of your biggest achievements? Receiving my Makeup Artistry Certificate, being featured on the Dose of Colors Instagram page (1.6 million followers), and the opportunities I’ve been given in the past year!
How do you build industry connections and gain new experiences? Through Social Media and marketing myself as an artist.
Who has been your biggest inspiration and why? Jaclyn Hill, because she started from the very bottom in this industry, and she has had so much success and collaborations with companies, which is a huge dream of mine. She’ll be starting her very own cosmetics company next year which is extremely cool too!
What have been some obstacles that you’ve faced in your career? How have you overcome them? I’ve tried my best to not compare myself to where other artists are in their life which can be tough, but staying true to myself and working hard has started to pay off!
What are your favorite services or area of your career that you enjoy the most? I enjoy expressing my creative side with makeup looks on myself, and making other people feel beautiful when freelancing for graduations, weddings and photoshoots!
How have you continued to grow and educate yourself as a professional in the beauty industry? I learn about new trends and techniques constantly through Social Media and that’s what I love about this industry. It’s forever changing and never boring.
What is one piece of advice you wish someone would have given you? To not compare myself to others. Creativity is not a competition!
Is there anything else you would like to add? I’m so glad I met the people I did and had so much fun while attending Richards/The Style Academy. I encourage everyone to do what you love, and you’ll never ‘work’ a day in your life!
