Nail Technician Student
What is your name?
Sydney Garchinski
What made you choose this career?
As a little girl I was always interested in fashion and beauty and that carried on into my highschool years. I ended up taking cosmetology classes that my school had offered as an elective because it was always an interest of mine, and I thought that it would be a good start to see if I would want to do this as a career. I realized shortly after that I did want to pursue a career in this type of industry so I enrolled in the Skin Technician course and in the Nail Technician course at The Style Academy to get me started.
When did you graduate?
I graduated from the full time Skincare Technician course in February of 2021 and I will be graduating from my part time Nail Technician course at the end of March of 2021.
What’s the most valuable thing you took from The Style Academy?
The most valuable thing that I have taken from my time as a student at The Style Academy is that if you want to be a successful and an educated individual in this type of industry, you have to hustle and work hard for what you want. These courses aren’t as easy as some may think but anyone can do it if they are teachable and are willing to put in the work.
What keeps you motivated to push forward?
The one thing that motivates me to push forward are the goals that I’ve set for myself. I want to be able to be my own boss one day, so that has motivated me to work hard now so I can allow myself to do that one day.
‘As a little girl I was always interested in fashion and beauty and that carried on into my highschool years. Who has been your biggest inspiration and why (in or outside of the industry)
My biggest inspiration has been my family. Both sides of my family are very hardworking and successful, and my family members have always been very supportive of me and have always pushed me to be the best version of myself.
What are your favourite services to offer?
Gel and acrylic nails and eyelash extensions.
What do you look forward to most having chosen this career?
The fact that I would have the option to potentially be my own boss one day, and that I am able to share what I love to do with others who love to get these services done. Seeing how happy clients get once they see the final result of their service is the most rewarding feeling of all.
What is the one piece of advice you wish someone would have given you?
It may seem hard at first, but as days go by it gets a lot easier to adjust to everything that is going on around you. Do not feel discouraged at the beginning because everyone is on their own journey. Remember that it is okay to learn and work at your own pace. Do what makes you happy, don’t feel the need to say “yes” all the time or take on something that isn’t true to who you are or what you want to do, because you are the only person that knows what’s best for you and what will make you happy.
