A Creative Candy Collaboration
What do you get when you incorporate over two hundred metallic gumballs, multi-coloured sprinkles, glitter, a pane of glass, a Dora the Explorer watering can and a talented team comprised of a photographer, makeup artist and model?
You get this eye catching series of vibrant portraits.
In the Makeup Artistry classroom, our makeup educator Stephanie encourages her students to stay current, collaborate and experiment with different mediums. It is important to Stephanie that she does this in her own artistry as well. This past August, Stephanie was invited to work on a series of portraits by photographer Peter Scoular. In collaboration with arguably Saskatchewan’s top model, Edge Agency’s Hannah Dawn, she worked to create some custom makeup looks to animate the concept of Desire. The team incorporated metallic gumballs, rainbow sparkles, crystallized sugar, some classic Hollywood Makeup and lighting effects to bring the concept to life.
For the series, Stephanie used the candy as inspiration for the colour and finishes to the makeup.
The glossy finish to the eyes and lips were inspired by the sugary glaze on candy apples. The tips of Hannah’s lashes were dipped in crystallized sugar.
