The Style Academy was excited to host our third annual Courageous You Summer Camp July 23 – 25.
This camp focuses on empowering youth by exploring beauty from the inside out. TSA partners with local businesses to bring a unique approach to what is considered beautiful.
Confidence, self acceptance, self love and care.
Participants explore who they are and who they want to become. This camp is designed to help youth learn to communicate, build deeper connections and lasting friendships! Armed with tips and tricks for hair, nails, skin, makeup, fashion, modelling/etiquette, mental health and more The Style Academy creates an environment where youth can explore their creativity in a supportive environment.
Courageous You couldn’t happen without the support of our community!
Day one | Fashion Design & Nails
Janis Procyk | Local fashion designer at Prahsik got everyones creative minds working as they designed their own streamer fashion creations in teams to be judged by a panel of educators. They spent some time thinking of what makes them unique and created their very own mood boards of inspirations. The fashion portion of the day ended with the redesign of an ordinary t-shirt. With fabric paints, sequins and some scissors everyone created their own custom design.
Candace Compton | TSA Professional worked with participants on manicures and pedicures. Teaching them the proper preparation, application and clean up steps to create beautiful manicured nails. Taking turns participants got to offer and receive a pedicure service complete with foot soak and foam flip flops.
Day two | Facials & Modeling
Lisa Marie | Owner of local modeling and talent company Edge Agency joined TSA to give participants an idea of what it is like to walk the runway. Learning how to pose and acknowledge their audience while showcasing what they are wearing. Participants also got an introduction to acting out a scenario and introducing themselves through conversation.
Adria Austin | TSA Esthetics Educator worked with groups on skincare techniques and proper cleansing procedures. Taking turns the girls performed facials on each other complete with hot towels and a facial massage.
Day three | Makeup, Mental Health, Physical Fitness & Braids
Stephanie & Becca | TSA Makeup Educators along with our makeup students transformed participants into mermaid inspired creatures. Complete with shell hair clips and gem stones each participant created their own magical persona.
Understand Us | spent 2 hours with each group exploring mental health. Through conversation and guided meditation they were able to open up about topics that can be very difficult for youth. Spreading positivity is what is it all about!

Thank so much for putting on the Courgeous You Camp this week. My daughter absolutely loved it! Each day I picked her up she was so happy and excited to tell me about the day. On Monday night she used her skills you taught her to give me a manicure and pedicure. I was very impressed with everything she learned about doing manicures/pedicures. After the camp she was practising doing the braids in her own hair. She is already asking if she can do the camp next summer!
Keep up the awesome work!
